It’s said there will be some surprise musical guests at the free musical festival in Golden Gate Park on Sunday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, reports City Insider.
“All the rumors you’ve heard about who’s going to be on the stage are probably true,” an insider with the West Fest event said.
Former Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist Slash is one of the guests to appear at the fest. A couple of other names expected to join the 50 scheduled performers.
West Fest, a free concert to be held in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Sunday October 25th, will pay homage to Woodstock with over 42 acts including Ray Manzarek from The Doors, Denny Laine from The Moody Blues, and The Alameda Allstars, Greg Allman’s band.
Featuring 26 poster artists as well as art galleries, kids zones and eco village vendors, West Fest will also honor Hendrix, by inviting 3,000 guitar players on stage in an attempt to break the World Record for the Largest Guitar Ensemble playing “Purple Haze”.
Woodstock was not just an event, a happening, or a concert with 400,000 people. It was a pivotal moment of realization for an entire generation. If you missed it the first time round, here’s your chance to re-live the experience.
